In 1882, Emerson P. Knight, a New York Grain dealer, built this grand Italianate mansion. For over fifty years it was the home of Solomon and Carrie Loeb. During the 1950's the building was converted into apartments with lowered ceilings and lowered windows. In 1995 it was restored and converted into a bed and breakfast inn. The Loeb House was the Lafayette Symphony Guild's 1996 Decorators Show House. The inn has been honored with a Centennial Neighborhood Association "Pride of Centennial Award" in 1996, a Tippecanoe County Historical Association award and a Wabash Valley Trust plaque.

The house has several Italianate features such as the window hoods, roof brackets, low-pitched roofline, and bay windows. The roof is crowned with a widow's walk with iron cresting. The enormous double front doors are butternut, and the rest of the woodwork in the house is made of walnut. Stop to admire the magnificent grand staircase and newel post lamp.
