Mr. Durgan was mayor of Lafayette from 1904 thru 1924+ and a dealer of pianos and organs at 610 Main St. In June 5, 1924 Mr. Durgan placed second in a statewide pool of 8 for the Democratic nomination to run for state governor. Prior to living here, the Durgan's lived at 415 Brown.

In 1979, this was part of the Potter apartment operation.

The home is now owned by Lafayette Neighborhood Housing Services.
